Netball NZ Community Coach Starter Resource

This is a comprehensive resource released in 2019 that will set you up for a season with your club or college team.  The resource includes session plans with skill development and tactics. You can also purchase a hard copy from Netball NZ.

Online Learning:

Netball NZ are developing a new and exciting online learning platform which will be launched in early 2021.  The Bracken Learning portal content will be unavailable from 7 December 2020 and current users will be updated about the change.

Further Coach Development Options:

Alongside the Netball NZ pathway, there are also other options for coaches to learn and network:

  • Local informal (Fill your Kete) workshops are a great way to get inspiration and practical ideas from experienced coaches.  These will be advertised on our facebook page from time to time.
  • Observe TWoR Pulse team trainings - ask us for details in 2021
  • Get involved with our Year 7&8 Player Development Programme, or Age group development squads - we can buddy you up with an experienced coach to work with a group of players.

Keep an eye on our facebook page and our coach calendar for opportunities.

FOUNDATION COACH AWARD

Development for foundation coaches focuses on fundamental movement and basic netball skills. The activities and games encourage maximum participation and enjoyment.

Pick and choose workshops of interest to you, or complete the whole set to gain the Foundation Coach Award.

Courses available:

  • Free online courses 'Introduction to Netball Rules', 'Growing Player Performance' and 'Player Centred Coaching'.
  • futureFERNS workshops for Year 1-2 Star Helpers, Year 3-4 Coaches, Year 5-6 Coaches, Year 7-8 Coaches and Year 1-4 Junior Co-ordinators. These are held at our Centre.
  • Player Centred Coaching Workshop

COMMUNITY COACH AWARD

Workshops in the Community Award space are most suited to those coaching players aged 12+. There are two levels - CCA 1 (Technical) and CCA 2 (Tactical). You are welcome to pick and choose workhops that interest you most, or to attend the full set to gain your CCA 1 or CCA 2 award.

Registration for CCA worskhops is via Netball Central Zone. See top of the page for the link.

Coaches identify sharing ideas and collaborating with other coaches as one of the main benefits of attending NNZ workshops, so don't be shy to mix it up and visit other centres!  Workshops are 2 - 2.5 hours.

It is a good idea to keep a record of workshops attended, especially if you are attending at other Centres.  We keep a database of the progress of our local Hutt coaches and rely on the workshop sign in sheets to keep this up to date.

PERFORMANCE COACH AWARD (PCQ):

The pre-requisites for PCQ are:  CCA 2 Award (actively coaching at this level for a minimum of two years), Centre/Zone endorsement, and Coaching Level (National League, Centre U17/U19, Premier Club).  There are two intakes per year.  Please contact us if you are interested in finding out more about PCQ.
