July Update 2023

FutureFERNS Year 5&6

  • Draw will be completed & online by end of week.
  • First game back is scheduled for Monday 17th July 2023. **Deferred games from Term 2 due to Hutt Fest.

FutureFERNS Year 7&8

  • Draw has been completed & published online here.
  • No changes will be made now that the draw is complete.
  • We have tried our best to accommodate request where we can. Requests have been considered for their impact on players availability, umpire availability (HV Umpire Association only) & coaches who are involved in other coaching commitments.

Prizegiving’s 2023

Plan A:

  • Year 5&6 prizegiving will be held on Monday 28th August from 5.30pm – 6.30pm in the Walter Nash Centre on court 1.
  • Year 7&8 McDonald’s Intermediate Challenge Match – the top two school teams will play Saturday 26th August prior to the Senior Premier 1 match, time TBC.
  • Year 7&8 prizegiving will be held on Friday 1st September from 6.30pm onwards on court 1.

Plan B (If we have to use our Reserve days in Term 3)

  • Year 5&6 will still be Monday 28th August from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
  • Year 7&8 McDonald’s Intermediate Challenge Match & prizegiving to be held on Friday 1st September. The fixture will take place at 6.30pm with prize giving following the match.

Term 3 Year 6 Transition to 7v7 Netball Programme

  • We will be holding our four week programme again this season on the back of a successful session in Term 4, 2022.
  • Schools & mates are encouraged to put together a team of year 6 players who are moving in to the 7v7 format in 2024.
  • The programme is designed to give participants a taster of what to expect when they move in to the intermediate school space.
  • The programme runs on Monday’s: 28th August, 4th September, 11th September & 18th September from 4pm – 5pm.
  • To register please email admin@netballhuttvalley.co.nz with your team name, lead contact name & phone number.
  • All teams will be required to attend with a parent/coach & umpire to help facilitate the drills & games.
  • There is no cost to participate in this programme.

Side-line Behaviours & Game Management

  • All teams are to supply their own umpire & scorers. Scorers are to stand together and confer scores regularly. Games cannot start unless there are two umpires. If there are no spectators willing to help out, the game will be considered a default win to the team who supplied an umpire. Whistles are available for purchase at the office for $10.
  • Please ensure all parents, players & spectators are aware of our code of conduct on & off the netball courts.
  • Please ensure no spectators are crowding around the baseline & leave enough room along the side lines for umpires to conduct their duties (this includes keeping clear vision of the length of the side line).
  • No chairs or bench seats are to be used on the courts – there is simply no room for umpires & player wellbeing & safety.
  • As we move towards more wintery conditions we ask umbrellas be kept away from the side-lines so they do not impede play. If they are required please do so in an open area that does not impact play/ umpire

duties.

  • Any issues should be reported to the office at time of the incident – after the fact is harder to deal with.

Term 3 start dates:

  • FutureFERNS Year 5&6 start back 17th July.
  • FutureFERNS Year 7&8 start back on 22nd July.
  • FutureFERNS Year 1 to 4 programme registrations will open again in Term 3 for the Term 4 programme.
  • In-School sessions: can be booked via ndo@netballhuttvalley.co.nz. First session free, then $35 per hour.
