December Club Update
Kia ora tātou,
As we make our way to the finish line of what has been a mammoth year for netball in the Hutt Valley I just want to say a big thank you to you all for your efforts in ensuring our programmes and competitions could run smoothly this year.
Thank you for all your support and many many thankless hours you have poured in to your clubs to ensure people can get on the court each week.
My final wrap up is below filled with 2024 season prep– please file this in a spot where you can access it once the silly season winds down.
2024 Season Dates
- Season dates have now been confirmed for next year & can be found here.
- The format of round 1 & 2 will be released in the new year – we are currently undertaking discussions with a couple centres to see if we can bring our round two competition idea to life in 2024.
- Fees will be updated in the new year & available on our website.
Club Trial Dates
Once you have confirmed your trial dates could you please let us know so we can advertise these on our website & through social media platforms to help engage new & returning players & team management on your behalf. Include your team fees etc. If you wish to do so. Trial dates will be published here.
Club Directory 2024
If you have any specific information you wish to advertise about your club please send through a short blurb. I will be compiling a list of club information (contact email, website, social media links & club blurb) to advertise clubs in 2024. This will be displayed for the community to see which clubs may be the best fit for them.
Netball Hutt Valley 90th Celebrations in 2024
Save the date! Netball Hutt Valley are celebrating 90 years of netball in the Hutt Valley in 2024!
Function date: Saturday 15th June 2024
Festivities will take part throughout the day showcasing netball in the Hutt Valley at Taita & Walter Nash Centre & a dinner function hosted at The Dowse from 6pm. Dinner function costs are yet to be finalised.
We welcome all past, present & friends of Netball Hutt Valley to come and join us as we celebrate this milestone!

2024 Programmes
We have an exciting new series of player & coach connects rolling out in the 2024 season that will help support the skill development, overall well-being, and competition here in the Hutt Valley. More information to be released in the New Year & updated on our website. Our first connect for premier & aspiring premier coaches will be Monday 12th/ Tuesday 13th February 2024. Our coaching & player programmes will be split in to the below categories. It is our aspiration to take a cohort of coaches through the pilot programmes in 2024 to learn from & develop our support programmes for our community coaches & premier players.
- Emerging Players Programme (Premier secondary school & club players)
- FUNdamental Coach Connects (Year 5 to 8, secondary schools & senior club team coaches)
- Emerging Coaches Connects (Premier secondary schools, clubs & representative coaches)
We have worked with Netball Central Zone and Netball Wellington Centre to develop these opportunities for learning, engagement & connection across our centre. These have been developed based on the feedback we have received from our community through surveys & conversations held to ensure we are capturing what our people want & delivering it in a way that best suits our community.
Netball Central Zone & Netball New Zealand Coach Development Opportunities in the New Year
- SHNL (National Netball League) team selection observation – Ngarama Milner-Olsen, Akau Tangi, Saturday 20th January, 12.45pm – 3pm. The observation is match play & targeted towards premier or representative coaches appointed for the 2024 season. Register here.
- Selecting and effectual team – Leigh Gibbs, online, Wednesday 24th January 2024, 7pm register here
Sporty Changes
Sporty are in the process of rolling out Team Builder 2.0 (blue team builder), which will make administration for clubs a whole lot easier, and allow our systems to communciate better with our clubs and schools.
This process is being conducted over the New Year and is expected to be in use from January. A further update will be sent out, along with Sporty training opportunities for administrators.

We have had a shuffle on our website to try & simplify the format for our user. The main tabs that have changed are:

We will be out of the office from Wednesday 20th December and returning from Wednesday 10th January 2024.
