The zone tournament is part of the player pathway for secondary school players.
Players are observed by Netball Central Zone selectors at representative tournaments and the Lower North Island Secondary Schools tournament. From there, a number of players are selected to create a Hutt Valley based team who participate in a tournament with Wellington & Kapi Mana players (south zone). An additional tournament is played in Manawatu for the north zone centres.
From this tournament a group of players are selected to attend Advanced Camp where they are exposed to another level of learning including Netball Smart, skill development and game play.
Players are then nominated to attend the Netball New Zealand National Development Camp (3 camps are held across NZ). Players identified in this pathway will make up the bulk of NZ secondary school team selections.
Eligibility: year 12 or under playing in rep or school based competitions in the Hutt Valley. Players are observed by Netball Central Zone selectors at all rep fixtures and LNISS.
For the 2025 season Netball Hutt Valley have decided to invite a further 12 players as training partners who have demonstrated strong skillsets and work ethic as well as good athlete habits at rep & LNISS level. These players will join the Hutt Valley based teams in the hub programme which will be delivered over five sessions incorporating skill development, Netball Smart safe & effective movement, conditioning and game play.
